Brigg Hockey Club Mens 1st team turned in their most disappointing performance of the season when they entertained Marton Furness from the Middlesborough area at The Pods.

North East sides are sometimes bad travellers and Brigg would have had real hopes of picking up points to compensate for a narrow 6-5 defeat at Leeds the previous Saturday.

Brigg though were just not on their game, particularly in the art of converting short corners, so important in the game at this level.

Brigg did create chances in open play but failed to convert either those or the short corners they were awarded.

The visitors were very clinical in converting short corners with more than half of the goals Brigg conceded coming from this area.

Brigg have one point now from a frustrating season, with Doncaster just above them on two points and it is going to be a long hard road after Christmas for Brigg to pick up many points from a very competitive league, all so very disappointing after winning the Yorkshire Premier League last season.

Brigg 1st visit Sheffield University Bankers away this Saturday.

Brigg 2nds though are doing well and in their latest games beat Ramgharia 3-0 and followed this with a 2-2 draw away at Huddersfield Dragons 2nd.

Likewise good displays came from Brigg 3rds who beat Leeds 6th 4-1 and then trounced Garforth 9-1. Both Brigg Mens 2nds and 3rds are figuring in the promotion shake up in Division 2 and 6 South respectively.

Brigg 4th went down away to Leeds Adel 5th by 6-1.
