IT is customary for the captain of Market Rasen Golf Club to select a charity and raise funds during his term of office.

This year was no exception and captain Peter Bray organised a variety of fundraising events including two gentlemen’s evenings as well as inviting every player to donate a £1 when they played into the bunker beside the 18th green.

Club stewardess Janet Parkinson is also the Market Rasen LIVES co-ordinator and Peter had no hesitation in selecting LIVES has as his chosen charity.

He said: “The volunteers from LIVES do a wonderful job and several of our members have benefited from their prompt attention. I am delighted that my charity realised £1,000.”

Our photograph shows Peter receiving a certificate of appreciation from Janet.

She said, “We gratefully accept all donations and the captain’s charity is no exception.

“They allow us to train and equip our volunteers and continue their vital role in providing a prompt response to medical emergencies.”
