Many playing and social Lady members of Market Rasen and District Golf club gathered together to celebrate and enjoy Ladies Captain’s Day.
Lady Captain Ann Todd had organised a great day with a qualifying Stableford competition for the morning, then a fun Texas scramble for the afternoon, with a meal and presentation of prizes to the day’s winners rounding the day off.
The 39 Ladies who entered the morning Stableford competition were refreshed with Pimms and delicious treats at the half way house.
Sue Borthwick (10) was the morning’s winner, with a creditable score of 40 points, having 9 pars and one birdie on her card.
In second place was Jenny Holborn (17) with 36 points and in third place was Kim Robinson (22) with 34 points.
Ronnie Sullivan certainly was lining up well and drove with great accuracy as she took both of the nearest the pin prizes - at the 5th and 18th.
The straightest drive was struck by Sue Would on the 8th hole.
In the afternoon, Ladies played in teams of three with a blend of high, medium and low handicaps for the Texas scramble. And the winners were Joan Woodcock (Club President), Lis Marsland and Barbara Chard.
The previous week, the Ladies exchange day at Boston Golf Club had been well supported, when, once again, favourable weather conditions enhanced a super day out.
The course was in lovely condition, although the greens however proved to be very fast and the water hazard and steeply inclined 18th green certainly proved challenging, particularly as all scores counted.
The team that triumphed was Rhona Bradford, Margaret Dixon and Pauline Neal.
