GOLF: Competition raises cash for Matt’s Fund at Market Rasen Golf Club

Golfers in Market Rasen raised more than £2,846 for charity at a recent tournament.

Friday, October 4 was the fourth time Matt’s Fund has organised a Charity Golf Competition at Market Rasen and District Golf Club.

Matt’s Fund is a charitable association raising funds for research into Malignant Melanoma and Skin Cancer, which was set up by the family of Matthew Boulton, from Welton, who died due to Malignant Melanoma in March 2008, aged 24.

On Friday 33 teams, 128 golfers, from around the county descended on Market Rasen last Friday for the AM/AM competition. Playing a Stableford better ball competition with best two to count and with four holes where three scores counted.

Winners on the day were ‘Winners Past,’ the team of Dick Holmes past Captain at Market Rasen Golf Club coming in with 92 points, nearest the pin was won by George Smith for the Gents and Dina Shah for the Ladies.

Matt’s Fund aims to raise funds for distribution to Melanoma focussed research charities, raise awareness of Melanoma and its impact and provide funding for the aid and comfort for young adults struck by the disease
