Jim Gillespie claimed a throws double at the weekend.
The Wragby athlete competed at the final Swindon Throws Invitational event, where he won the Throws Triathlon and Heavyweight Hammer, adding a season’s best throw for good measure.
In the triathlon, he opened with a 24.17m hammer throw.
This was followed up with a season’s best 8.63m in the shot putt.
The final event of the triathlon was the heavyweight hammer, in which he threw 8.72m.
This gave Jim a final winning points score of 1,223.
Later in the day there was a separate heavyweight hammer competition, which Jim also won, this time with a distance of 9.98m.
“I have one more winter competition next week in Abingdon, then it will be all guns blazing for the summer season which starts in April,” said Jim.
