Records fell at Willow Banks Equestrian Complex, Claxby, as 12 top riders entered a big money Puissance.
All 12 made it through the first round of the JC Groundworks Puissance class as they vied for the £500 prize money.
The wall was then raised from 100cm to 125cm which proved too much for half of the field.
A hike to 140cm saw another three competitors defeated, leaving Mike Potter, Zoe Adams and Joss Williams in a battle for the top prize.
With the wall set at 150cm, Mike, riding Comet, and Zoe on local horse Ben, who was second, made valiant attempts to jump clear, but it was Melton Mowbray rider Joss, on Culmore Prospect, who cleared the wall to take victory.
Not content with winning, Joss wanted a chance to break the 174cm record set by Harry Whall last year, and facing a daunting height of 180cm, or 5ft 11ins, the Leicestershire horse and rider cleared it with plenty of room to spare.
