ANGLING: Sutherland win closes gap on Market Rasen’s leading pair

In cooler weather conditions and a easterly wind 14 Market Rasen Angling Club members made the draw to fish the 10th leg of the Jackson Builders Merchant Aggregate Shield and the Riggall Cup.

With only three matches left in the series, points were at a premium so the draw was very interesting to see who had which peg.

At the all in Andy Labaj was the match favourite fishing from the flyer peg 30, but as the match progressed all anglers were into fish.

But in the end and at the weigh five hours later it was Brian Sutherland fishing from peg 26 who weighed in with 12-13-0 to claim the win and the Riggall Cup.

Second place was claimed by Bud Chambers from peg 18 with 8-5-0, Andy Labaj was third with 7-11-0, Barry De’Ath fishing peg 25 claimed fourth spot with 5-15-0.

After the match and with the points from the match added the league table is now looking a very close and interesting affair with B De’Ath on 77 points, B Chambers 73 points and B Sutherland 70 points.

The next match on Sunday August 4 sees the anglers take a break from the Jackson Builders Merchant Aggregate Shield, in which they shall be fishing for the annual Feast Week Cup, and this match will be fished over six hours with the all-in at 1.30pm. Draw 12.30pm, fish 1.30pm to 7.30pm
