Last Sunday saw the conclusion of the Market Rasen Anglers Association 2014/15 Keyline Winter League and also the final of the Winter League Knockout Shield.
With only 10 members making the 8.30am draw and even though the weather conditions were decent, the fishing itself was tough and from the all in at 9.30am, this proved to be the case throughout the match with bites being at a premium.
Stuart Cash fishing from peg 15 was the exception with him having two decent skimmers in the net after the first hour and a few bits on the feeder after that to win the match with 3lb 2oz after the five hours.
Jim Kelham fished peg 13 using the waggler method and fishing shallow to weigh in with 2lb 4oz for a good second, third place was secured by Dave Humphreys, fishing the feeder from peg 25 with 1lb 12oz.
After the match the points were added to the previous matches and it was Jim Kelham that took the Keyline Winter League Aggregate Shield with 22 points from Dave Humphreys on 17 points.
Roy Bentley was a close third with 16 points.
The final of the Winter Knockout Shield was also fished alongside the main match with Jim Kelham fishing against Alex Small and it was another victory for Jim with his 2lb 4oz to Alex’s 11oz from peg 7.
The anglers now take a break from club competitions until the last weekend in April when they will start their summer campaign of matches.
There will be some sweepstake matches in between this period with the first one being fished on March 1 draw at 8.30am and all club members are welcome to come along and fish at Willingham Road Lake.
