ANGLING: Bentley continues his winning ways.

Market Rasen Angling Club Winter League Aggregate Shield – third Leg

Roy Bentley returned after missing the second leg of the Winter Series and with him currently being in form after winning successive matches away from the Willingham Road lake he would be the man to beat.

That proved to be the case as he continued with his winning streak to take the match with a weight of 3lb 2oz, Roy fished peg 26 and used the pole.

Alan Smith, back after a few weeks lay off and fishing the method feeder on peg 10, took second spot with a weight of 1lb 10oz. Stuart Cash, ever present, was third with 1lb 8oz from peg 17, Barry Dea’th, the defending champion, claimed fourth spot and valuable points from peg 7 with 0.15oz, just pipping Ted Goulsbra by 1oz, who took final spot for the points with 0.14oz fishing from peg 12.

Entries where slightly down with only nine members braving the elements, the weather conditions after the recent cold spell showed significantly in the weights recorded with only five out of the nine entries weighing in.

So after the third Leg the Winter League table now looks like this, with last year’s champion Barry Dea’th leading by just one point from Stuart Cash and a further point from Roy Bentley. With the rest all in the reckoning still.

1. B Dea’th – 9pts

2. S Cash – 8pts

3. R Bentley – 7pts

4. T Goulsbra – 6pts

5. A Smith – 4pts

6. M Manning – 3pts

7. J Hewson – 2pts

8. D Humphreys – 1pt

The fourth match in the Winter League Series will be this Sunday, December 16. Draw: 8.30am, fish: 9.30am to 2.30pm, match fee £5.
