Middle men quick to make a mark

MIDDLE Rasen Cricket Club got its 2012 season off to a fantastic start with a crushing win against Old Lincolnians.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Captain Richard Boryszczuk and Darren Salmon opened the bowling, pretty much destroyed the opposition batting line up.

It took Middle until the eighth over to make the break through with Charman taking catch of the bowling of Boryszczuk,

The following over saw Salmon get among the wickets, bowling fellow opener Lord with the Lincolnians score on 23-2.

With Boryszczuk frustrating the Old Lincolnains batsman with them unable to get him away, Salmon continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals and at drinks, both completing their 10 over spells, the scoreboard showed 40-7 and Darren Salmon’s figures of 5-26 and Boryszczuk’s 2-13.

After drinks Middle perhaps took the foot off the gas a bit and allowed Old Lincs to take their total to 84 before the innings came to and end, Kevin Salmon, 1-9, and Nash, 1-23, finishing things off for Middle

After tea Middle openers Chris Potter and Ivan Nash quickly got to work with both showing their excellence with the bat as Pooter raced to 39 in just 33 balls, before not moving his feet and being bowled.

This brought Darren Salmon to the crease and it didn’t take long for the two batsman to wrap the game up with with Nash carrying his bat for 32 not out and Salmon ending on seven not out.

Middle completed a tidy performance and bagged a full 20 points in the opening game.
