Hoping to avoid the weekend’s wet weather, Market Rasen CC’s Sunday XI faced Reepham CC at Rase Park in a Lincoln and District League Division Two fixture.
Batting first, Rasen started at a frenetic pace and reached 71 before Seb Darke lost his wicket to the bowling of Adrian Newton for 28.
A family partnership dominated this match as James and Nic Keast put together a 70-run partnership before James was caught for a well-deserved 76.
His brother went in search of his second century of the season and looked on course before he was bowled by Mark Edlington on 93.
After a quick clatter of wickets in the final few overs, Rasen finished on an impressive 233-6 from their 40 overs.
Knowing rain was forecast for the afternoon, Rasen started their attack quickly as Rory Miller and Megan Quinlan struck early on.
They claimed both opening batsmen without any runs on the board.
A third and fourth wicket partnership from Reepham was then broken by the spin pair of James Snell and James Quinlan as the away side were reduced to 70-5 before the heavens opened.
The torrential downpour forced the end of play, but with runs and overs under their belt, Rasen walked away with a well-earned 12 points.
This weekend, the Sunday XI welcome Boston CC to Rase Park.
