Market Rasen CC’s title-challenging Second XI were stunned as they were bowled out for just 29 at lowly Normanby Park on Saturday.
Rasen had lost just twice all season and lay second in the Lincolnshire County League Division Three, while Normanby had won just once.
The visitors won the toss and skipper Jon Stephenson put the home side into bat.
The plan seemed to be working as Rasen’s opening bowlers Daniel Clarke (2 for 26) and Liam Entwhistle (1 for 16) soon had Park in trouble at 4-3 as Clarke had Dunning caught by Ivan Nash and bowled Meadows for a duck, while Entwhistle trapped Donnelly lbw.
Alex Czabaniuk rescued the hosts with what proved a match-winning innings of 58 until he was bowled by Sam Williams (2 for 20).
But skipper Mark Knapton (11) was the only other batsman to reach double figures as Lee Freeman (5 for 26) single-handedly took care of the lower order to bowl Normanby out for just 109.
In reply, Rasen were soon in bother themselves, and when captain Stephenson was out for five, their top order was gone - 17-4.
And things didn’t get any better for the visitors with no batsmen making more than Stephenson’s score and the extras column (8) providing their biggest source of runs.
When Entwhistle was bowled by Dunning (2 for 5) the innings was done in the 23rd over.
Rasen remain second, 14 points behind leaders Grimsby Town, and will hope to return to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to Clee Town Laportes (1.30pm).
