Market Rasen CC Ladies XI were the stars of the show at the club’s presentation evening at Rase Park on Friday.
The team, managed by Catherine Fussey, won eight out of 10 games to take the league title.
Skipper Matt Rutherford led the First XI by example as he topped the bowling averages in the ECB region, but his efforts couldn’t prevent the team being relegated.
The firsts and the seconds, captained by Jono Stephenson, have both struggled getting teams together for matches.
“We have had a lot of young lads playing and they have gone beyond expectations and should be really proud of themselves,” said Matt.
“There has been a vast improvement, but we can go higher with a greater commitment.”
The U9s and U11s, with manager Darren McKay, have been getting to grips with the game, with some fantastic results, and thanks went to the parents for the support shown to both teams.
Andy Quinlan, manager of the U15s, reported a good season as they finished a creditable second, but also disappointment at missing out on top spot at the last minute.
The special award for Junior Member of the year, the Chris Lancaster Shield, went to Megan Quinlan.
Club secretary Catherine Fussey said: “She is always ready to help 100 percent, she never says she doesn’t want to do anything.
“She helps with the junior training and is also part of the ladies’ team.
“Megan epitomises what we are all about at the club.”
Catherine is now stepping down as secretary after 10 years in the post.
“We can only survive as a club with people like Catherine who put time in,” said chairman Ryan Penniston.
“We thank her for everything she has done over the years.”
