Market Rasen Under 15s visited Ancaster in the second round of the Mid Lincs Cup.

Up against an established team from the league above, Rasen were slow out of the blocks again and struggled early on.

They soon had a mountain to climb, conceding two early goals in the first 15 minutes of the game as Ancaster put them to the sword.

A further goal on the stroke of half time effectively put the game out of reach of the visitors.

After regrouping at half time, a gritty and determined second half display by the visitors prevented any further scoring, keeping the final score at 3-0.

Indeed Rasen were unlucky not to reduce the deficit when Joshua Steer was put through one on one with the Ancaster keeper.

Rasen’s man of the match against Ancaster was Jacob Bennett.

A good second half display, in which Rasen were arguably the better team, will give them a confidence boost before their next Mid Lincs League game against Alford this Sunday at Rase Park. Kick off is at 10.45am.
