Toft Newton Under 15 7

Woodhall Spa 2

Toft kicked off needing a response from the team after last week’s defeat to bottom of the league Hykeham.

They started well with lots of chances, but with some bad misses and good goalkeeping they just couldn’t score.

Woodhall got a freekick, which their striker fired into the roof of the net, making it 1-0 going into half-time.

Toft started the second half really well and scored three very quick goals.

The first was from a corner, superbly heading in by George Bennett to bring the score level. Then a shot by George was pushed away to Ross Cooke who fired in to make it 2-1 to Toft. George then scored the third, from a pass by Andy Gardner.

Toft were on top of the game and Ross was sent clear to slot the ball past the Woodhall keeper to make it 4-1.

When Woodhall did attack, Toft’s midfield and defence were so solid.

Another great run by Andy into the area resulted in a foul from a Woodhall defender; Ross stepped up to take the penalty, scoring for his hat-trick.

Toft scored two more goals, before Woodhall pulled one back just before the end to bring the final score to 7-2.

Toft’s man of the match was Ross Cooke.
