Market Rasen Town FC’s Lincolnshire League campaign began with a narrow defeat as they lost by the odd goal in three at Fulstow.

Nathan Smith was on target for the visitors, but CGB Humbertherm came out on top, thanks to goals from Joe Burns and James Blunden.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Hykeham Town began their title defence with a convincing win over local rivals Ruston Sports.

Six different scorers found the back of the net as Hykeham knocked Sports for six at the Memorial Playing Field.

Last season’s runners-up Skegness Town beat East Lindsey rivals Horncastle Town 2-0 at Burgh Road, while Sleaford Town Reserves got the better of Wyberton, 1-0, at Eslaforde Park.

League new boys Brigg Town Reserves failed to make it a winning return to the league when they lost 3-0 at home to Cleethorpes Town’s Development Squad.
