FOOTBALL: Caistor Tennyson run riot against Kirmington

Caistor Tennyson 8-0 Kirmington

Caistor Tennyson continued their good start to the season with an 8-0 thrashing of Kirmington, who were promoted with Tennyson last season.

If games between the local sides were competitive in the last campaign it was very different this time round as Caistor rattled in the goals.

Early in the game there was little difference between the two sides, though Kirmington rarely threatened the Tennyson goal.

After 20 minutes there was still deadlock at 0-0. Once the first goal went in however it opened the floodgates with Tennyson scoring through star man Luke Clifford, who bagged five goals, and Alex Padley, who got a hat trick. The duo up front had far too much pace for an older Kirmington defence which struggled to cope.

The scoreline at half-time showed Tennyson four goals to the good and in the second half they added another four, making the game safe well before the 90 minutes were up.

It means Tennyson have seven points from a possible nine after their opening three games in the East Lincolnshire Combination League Division 1.
