FOOTBALL: Brigg Town away form continues cause concern as relegation places loom

Brigg’s poor run away from home continued on Saturday as the Zebras were beaten 5-1 at promotion chasing Coalville Town.

The Zebras got off to a dream start, taking the lead after just two minutes through Michael Jacklin.

But, Coalville pushed forward relentlessly and scored five unanswered goals to run out comfortable winners and consign the Zebras to their fourth away defeat in a row

More worryingly for Brigg, Bedworth United’s 3-1 win at Newcastle Town means that the Zebras are just five points clear of the Evo-stik League relegation places.

It was better news for the Zebras mid-week. Goals from Paul Ashton and Elliot Broughton earned Brigg a 2-0 win against Bottesford and booked a place in the Lincs Senior Trophy Final.

The final will be played at Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank ground against either Grantham Town or Stamford on a date to be confirmed.

Brigg face another tough challenge on the road this Saturday, February 22, when they face seventh place Mickleover Sports.
