BRIGG Town had one of their best wins of the season beating Quorn FC 5-2.

Rob Northern lined up alongside Ryan Paczkowski in the Brigg attack for the first time and Ollie Fisher was back for his first home game of the season.

The visitors were positive from the kick off and Tom Woodhead held on to an early shot from the right and followed this up by saving a glancing header after the ball was played into the goal area from the left.

Brigg’s first attack came from a free kick played forward by Chris Dickman and aimed at Matt Plant by the far post, but the ball was just too high for him to get a connection.

A free kick for Quorn was headed clear from the penalty area, but the visitors took the lead after 27–minutes with a well taken goal when a shot beat Tom Woodhead at his near post following an attack down the left wing.

Brigg were back on level terms within six minutes of play after Liam Davis crossed from the right wing to the far post for Jordon Cooper to find the back of the net from close range.

Two further minutes passed before Brigg took the lead for the first time in the game. The goal came after Liam Davies picked up a long through ball to the left wing from Ryan Paczkowski and struck a firm shot into the roof of the net from 15–yards out.

Brigg completely dominated the opening 15–minutes of the second half and were soon in a match winning position after scoring three more quick goals.

The first of these came five minutes into the half when the ball was played with pace from the left wing into the goal area and was turned into his own net by a Quorn defender.

After 52–minutes Northern scored from the penalty spot after Ryan Paczkowski turned his defender inside the penalty area and was brought down.

Then after 56–minutes, the fifth goal came when Matthew Plant was left unmarked at the far post to head the ball into the roof of the net from Liam Dickens’ well flighted free kick from the right.

Brigg looked capable of adding more goals but sat back for the rest of the game and allowed the visitors to score a second goal in the 70th minute.

The next home match is against Ilkeston FC on Saturday, December 17, but follows two tricky away fixtures at Market Drayton Town and Leek Town.
