Caistor Cricket Club’s 2nd and 3rd teams were forced to abandon their matches on Saturday as the heavens opened.

The 2nds were on 84 for 2 at home to Appleby Frodingham 2nd when the rain came, Stuart Costello the star, hitting 47.

Caistor 3rds had ball in hand against Keelby, who had started strongly and were on 125 for three when the downpour meant play came to an end, Andrew Grainger batting well on 64 not out.

It was the second week in a row the weather put paid to the 3rds progress. Last week an unbeaten 142 by opener Ryan Mckitton put Caistor in a strong position against Scunthorpe 3rd. Caistor made 221 for 3 and had Scunthorpe on 37 for 3 when the match fell foul of the weather.

On Saturday the 1sts host Cherry Willingham while the 2nds travel to Haxey 2nds in the Bob Welton Cup. The 3rds meanwhile visit Louth 3rds.
