With the Saturday X1 not playing this weekend, Owmby CC’s Sunday X1 got a off to a losing start away at Morton CC in the Lincoln Sunday League Division one.

Having lost the toss Owmby were put into bat and got off to a slow start. After 10 overs Owmby were 26-0 which then sparked a mini collapse, Joe Atkin was well caught for 9 and Owmby lost 5 wickets for 13 runs leaving them on 39-5 at drinks.

However after Neil Looker had dug in to make 21 and a fantastic innings from Dave Hill, who scored 60 not out from 64 balls, Owmby managed to recover to 126 all out after 39 overs. Special mention to Will Looker who stayed at the crease with Dave to allow him to play his shots.

Morton’s innings also started slowly and opener Daniel Clark managed to take an early wicket for the visitors.

However S. Crooke came in and ensured Morton did lose too many early wickets as his 66 not out helped the home side to victory.

Despite a valiant effort from Owmby in the field with Clark 3-37 from 10 overs and Deegan 2-16 from 6 overs, Morton comfortably got to 127-6 with 7 overs to spare.

Next week Owmby are at home to Haxey 2nds CC on Saturday and away to Scothern CC on Sunday.
