Owmby in Division 1 of the Lincolnshire League went down to defeat at Horncastle in their final game of the season on Saturday.
They will finish below half way in the table but comfortably safe from relegation. Horncastle’s 286 for 6 was far too big a total for Owmby whose bowlers struggled in the batsmen friendly conditions. Dale Chambers was the pick of the attack with 4 for 85. A century from Horncastle’s Nick Paige did the damage.
Sam Atkin with 76 gave Owmby a decent start, but the rest of the batting collapsed and at 122 all out, the winning margin for the home side was a massive 144 runs.
Keelby in Division 2 had an easy five wicket win at Scunthorpe Town 2nd. The game was played at Hibaldstow but Scunthorpe collapsed and were all out for 89. Keelby had a fairly easy task and got to their target on 93 for 5. They should now finish in the top four of the league.
Hibaldstow lost by 40 runs away at Cherry Willingham 2nd. The home side hit 209 for 5 from their 45 overs but Hibaldstow could only reply with 169 for 7 when time ran out. Lee Robinson with 51 and Tom Taylor with an unbeaten 33 were the Hibaldstow batsmen on form. Hibaldstow have completed their matches and a mid-table finish is assured.
