Middle Rasen Cricket Club’s 1st team got their Lincoln and District Sunday League Premier Division underway this weekend, but not in the way they hoped.

Middle suffered a seven wicket defeat away at Bracebridge Heath Sunday 1sts.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, but openers Darren Salmon and Kevin Salmon both fell victim to the bowling of Joe Peveritt for 5 and 10 runs respectively.

Tom and Richard Boryszczuk added 16 runs each before losing their wickets. Aaron Wells was the only other Middle batsman to make an impact, hitting 26 before being bowled.

Bracebridge had things wrapped up for just 100 runs, Matthew Bradley the pick of the home teams bowlers, taking three wickets for just nine runs.

In reply, Middle made the perfect start, catching opener Kevin Coulson for a duck.

Richard Boryszczuk took two further wickets but it was then all too easy for James Holden, 39, and Brett McGlade, 35, to pile on the run and ease Bracebridge to victory.

This Sunday Middle are at home to Lindum Cricket Club 1sts.
