A supreme batting performance saw Caistor 2nds run out winners against Louth 2nds at the weekend in the Lincolnshire County League Second Division.

There was already 67 on the board when Caistor opener Stuart Costello fell for 51, but when Kevin Parker fell with the score on 68, the game could have got away from the home side.

Dominic Bishop and Liam Wood steadied the ship with 23 and 37 respectively and Ben Young added 16 before the 45 overs were up to put Caistor on 147 for 3.

Louth began well in reply, openers Steve Wright and Phil Burrell hitting 22 and 20 before both being dismissed by Stuart Costello.

Partnered by Dominic Bishop, the two Caistor bowlers ripped through the Louth attack to dismiss the visitors for just 99, Bishop taking six wickets in just 12 overs for 25 runs, Costello finishing with four wickets for 34 runs in 14 overs.

Caistor 2nds now lead Louth 2nds in the Second Division by 23 points.

On Saturday Caistor 1sts return to action against Nettleham at Brigg Road while the 2nds travel to Alkborough 2nds.
