CRICKET: Caistor comfortable after Bracebridge Heath win

Caistor 1st team had a deserved win over Bracebridge Heath 2nds in Lincoln on Saturday, the margin though was only two wickets.

It was a big day for young Kieran Brooker who has come through the junior sides and returned the impressive figures of 5 for 35, his best return in the Premier League. Bracebridge were all out for 149, Paul Jackson returning 3 for 56 in support.

Caistor’s innings centred around another young batsman in Harry Capstick who hit an unbeaten 44 in the total of 150 for 8, Jim Parker with 29 was the next highest scorer.

Caistor are now comfortably safe from relegation with Bracebridge 2nds and Cleethorpes 2nds certain to go down.

Caistor 2nds sadly do not share the same end of season satisfaction as they are already relegated in Division 2.

They had some consolation though as they won a local derby at Keelby by five wickets. The village side batted first and posted 153 all out.

Gary Spencer hit 34 and Sanjay Chauhan 31. Tim Brown was the stand out Caistor bowler with 5 for 31. Caistor’s reply of 154 for 5 was centred around a fine knock of 64 not out by James France as he eased his side towards their target on 154 for 5.

Sadly Caistor 3rds could not raise a side for their game with Old Lincolnians.

Keelby 2nds were the only other local side with a game as the season draws to a close and they won in some style over Scothern 2nds in Division 4. Scothern hit 98 with Keelby replying with 99 for 1 and a 9 wicket win.
