The best win of the day in the local Lincolnshire Cricket League programme came from Caistor 2nds who travelled to Augusta Street to play Grimsby Town 2nd team in Division 2 and came away with an impressive six wicket win.
Caistor captain Kevin Parker won the toss in breezy conditions after early morning rain. With moisture around they opted to insert Grimsby.
It proved rewarding as the home side were dismissed for 98, the wickets being shared around,no-one really dominating. Best figures belonged to Paul Randell who picked up four wickets at a cost of 36 runs from his 12 overs. He was well supported by seamer Ryan Farrow who picked up 3 for 41.
One man who did take over when Caistor batted was Andy Pearson who dominated the innings of 99 for 4 with an impressive and hard hitting half century. Ryan McKitton gave him good support with 23. Earlier skipper Parker (11) and Harry Capstick (10) had gone cheaply.
Caistor ended up with an encouraging six wicket win to get their Division 2 season underway.
Caistor 3rd team hosted Barton Town 2nd and went down by nine wickets in Division 3. Caistor were all out for 116 with Barton replying with 118 for the loss of a single wicket.
