CAISTOR Cricket Club had a fine win on Saturday away at Alkborough, long term rivals they had beaten in the George Marshall Cup final last season.
After a difficult start to the season, Caistor now find themselves in the safe pastures of mid-table after this 12 run win.
Caistor’s total of 152 saw Jim Parker hit 60, and Alkborough could only muster 140 in reply.
Caistor 2nds were less successful at home to Alkborough 2nds in Division 2, going down by nine wickets.
Caistor were all out for 70, a total Alkborough 2nds passed on 71 for four. Few Caistor batsmen got into their stride, Andrew Pearson with 19, Paul Ridley with 14 and skipper Dan Healey with ten being the top scorers. Ridley took 2 for 11 in the Alkborough innings.
Hykeham 2nds beat lowly Caistor 3rds. Hykham batting first hit 126 with Terry McKitton claiming 5 for 52. Caistor 3rds though were all out for 72.
In Division 1, South Kelsey continued their progress with a 69 run win at Grimsby Town 2nds. Kelsey’s 177 for seven was too much for Grimsby who were all out for 108.
Upwardly mobile Owmby faced Stamford Homes who took first knock and posted 143. Owmby replied with 144 for five for a five wicket win and maximum points.
In Division 3 the planned local games involving Hibaldstow and South Kelsey 2nds were cancelled due to wet conditions.
In Division 4 Market Rasen 2nds went down to Alford in the Marsh, their total of 81 not being enough as Alford 2nds hit off the runs on 83 for four for a six wicket win.
Keelby 2nds had a good home win against neighbours Holton le Clay. Keelby hit 158 for eight (Roberts 65) before bowling out Holton-le-Clay 2nds for 99.
