A Market Rasen Community Group needs your votes to secure a £5,000 grant which will provide vital support for elderly residents.

Fletcher Court Residents Community Club has successfully applied for one of 15 grants being made by Engage Mutual Assurance.

But, there are 85 community groups in the running for the cash and now Fletcher Court needs the public’s support.

David Roberts, of the Fletcher Court Residents Community Club, said that since full-time on-site warden provision had been removed, as featured recently in the Rasen Mail, the group had been looking at ways to get some of the less mobile residents out and about.

The money will be used to provide social events at Fletcher Court, as well as paying for the days out and the hire of wheelchair accessible transport.

Mr Roberts said: “This money will be used to provide for people of different ages and abilities.

“It’s so important to get people out and stop them getting stuck in the house alone, particularly the older residents.

“We want to get residents to participate in the community and get them doing things they could not have done before.

“They have lost the personal contact because they have lost the wardens now they are not on-site all the time. It’s the personal contact we are trying to regain.”

As well as days out, the community club is organising games afternoons, indoor bowling, bingo nights and meals out.

Now the Fletcher Court Community Group is hoping as many Rasen residents as possible will get behind their grant bid.
