EDITOR – The recent Radio Four serialisation of Gordon Bowker’s biography of James Joyce has cast something of a shadow on the reputation of Lincolnshire.

It revealed how in 1904 the writer James Joyce was defrauded of a guinea by an agent based in Market Rasen who sent the writer off to a non-existent teaching post in Zurich.

Perhaps county residents should make belated amends by sending off a few guineas to the James Joyce Museum in Dublin.
