No rest for Bloom group

Editor – Caistor in Bloom has been delighted with the massive support from the community following the Gold award at East Midlands in Bloom and a record third Best Market Town win this year.

This has been largely due to a concentrated effort by many individuals who were all recognised at our recent awards ceremony on Saturday September 24.

Lori Fox from Crocosmia Gardens gained a special award for her massive efforts in the town hall car park, where the judges were very impressed, and which certainly contributed greatly to the town’s success.

Many visitors to Caistor have been pleasantly surprised at the massive transformation there. From the groundworks undertaken by Derek Fox, Brian Crow, Waltham Herbs and the Caistor in Bloom Group, to the generous commitment from Lori and Mark Fox, who spent many hours planting and have since undertaken to maintain the area.

This is a great bonus for our group as it serves to free up our volunteers to continue with other projects.

As our president Ernie Brown said the very day after our win: ‘No time to rest on our laurels’.

We will be all-out to win our category next year. Only 10 points away from top spot means that is quite achievable.

If we could encourage more projects to be sustained, like the Crocosmia Gardens, this will be so achievable.

A great big thank you to everyone involved – we still have to float back down to earth but acknowledge those that gave their time and efforts – THANK YOU
