Mayor will miss ‘camaraderie’

EDITOR – My reasons for standing down from the council are in most ways identical to Mike’s (Deputy Mayor), albeit that my family implications are children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who, despite living only 90 miles away in Halifax, I rarely ever see.

The council has become virtually a full-time job for me and in addition to rarely having an evening in with Anne, it is also adversely affecting my health, so although I will feel guilty at leaving I feel I have little choice.

I also echo Mike’s sentiment re having thoroughly enjoyed working with you all.

I will not miss the incessant meetings, but I will miss very much the friendship and camaraderie those meetings generated.

On the positive side, my disappearance should have a particularly positive effect on the councillors’ average age, and balance out the effect of Mike’s leaving!

I will be at all meetings that I have already committed to until the new council is formed.
