Editor – As it is rabbit awareness week, I just had to write having seen a piece in the Mail about pet animals being good for your health.
In the last five years, the RSPCA alone received 33,000 rabbits that needed re-homing.
Many other animal charities are also inundated with unwanted pet rabbits.
Rabbits live between eight and 12 years, so are not ideal children’s pets, especially as only one in five rabbits actually likes being picked up, most prefer to be stroked with their four paws firmly on the ground.
Rabbits need attention; they don’t just sit and do nothing. They are intelligent, sociable animals and it is much better to have a pair of neutered rabbits.
