Join Legion to remember their sacrifice

EDITOR – The Remembrance weekend this year will be over Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, and members of the Tealby and Market Rasen Branch of the Royal British Legion invite everyone to take part and join us in remembering the past and present sacrifices that have been made and continue to be made by the men and women of our Armed Forces.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal commences on Saturday, October 29 and from this date volunteers will be carrying out house-to-house collections in town and the adjacent villages.

Poppies will be also available in shops, pubs and clubs in the town and surrounding areas.

On Friday, November 11 the branch will be holding a two-minute silence at the war memorial on Chapel Street, and it is hoped as many people as possible will attend.

On Saturday, November 5 the branch will be holding a collection at the Market Rasen Tesco store from 9am-4pm.

The street collection will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 8am-1pm at various places in town.

On Sunday, November 13 the Tealby and Market branch will be holding their Remembrance Service at St Thomas’s Church, commencing at 9.30am.

This will be followed by the town council parade from the Market Place to the war memorial on Chapel Street, marching off at 10.45am. Following a short service and the laying of wreaths there will be further services at the chapel and the Roman Catholic Church.
