Hainton Estate - Felling of iconic tree

Very sadly the Hainton Estate is having to fell one on the iconic beech trees on the Caistor High Street near the Tibbs Inn Junction.

The Estate has maintained and kept the beech safe over the last 150 years so that they can be appreciated by all that drive past.

In this instance, the tree closest to Caistor has developed Meripilus Giganteus a polypore fungus that causes severe root decay.

After a thorough inspection by qualified personnel the decision has been taken that the tree is to be cut down.

We hope that people will understand the decision but continue to appreciate the remaining beech trees.

We will be planting another beech tree in its place.
