Editor - Reference your recent article on the Synergy shop in Market Rasen’s Union Street.
We were aware of the shop being opened by Julie de Waal as she had contacted us and told us of her plans.
However, during the two months the shop has been open we have only received £82 by way of a donation from the proceeds of the shop sales.
I therefore advised Julie at the end of September that we no longer wish to be associated with the shop as we owe it to those who donate to the Children’s Hospice to maximise the return on their donations.
Although clearly there are geographical variations, from a shop of a similar size to the one in Union Street the Hospice would expect to generate sales of a minimum of £2,000 per month, a large proportion of which would be pure income to run Hospice services, as our shops are operated primarily by dedicated teams of volunteers.
If any reader would like to support St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice then please contact Lisa Courtney on 01472 350908 x262 or 07730 748515.
The Hospice has shops in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Immingham, Louth and Sutton on Sea all whom will welcome donations.
A new shop is opening in Sleaford in the New Year too.
Collections of good quality furniture and large quantities of donations can be arranged through Shane Briggs on 01469 574251.
