TIME is running out to take part in the Rotary International shoe box scheme.

We have teamed up with Rotary to distribute gifts to deprived people in Eastern Europe.

Filled shoe boxes must be returned to our office by November 16 for collection by Rotary.

Rotary will deliver your boxes to Romania, Ukraine and Belarus.

They say items we take for granted in our daily lives can make a huge difference to the poor families there.

For the children, these toys may be the first gifts they have received for a very long time.

To take part, come along to Rasen Hub in Union Street, Market Rasen between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday collect a free flat-pack box and fill it with new or quality used toys, teenage items or household goods.

A guide to what sort of gifts to include is printed on each box.

Suitable toys to include are small toy cars, small bouncy balls, jigsaws, fluffy toys, dolls, colouring books, felt tip pens and yo-yos. Household goods such as hand soap, toothpaste and brushes, envelopes, letter paper and pens are always welcome.

Don’t forget teenage boys and girls up to the age of 18 with gifts such as make-up, toiletries, sportswear, scarves, gloves, hats, writing materials, combs and football memorabilia.

Please tape a £1 coin to the top of each box to cover transport costs.

Remember, all boxes must be returned to Rasen Hub by November 16.

Thank you to all those who have taken part so far.
