A Wragby teenager, who has been wowing people with her voice since she was just six years old, has recorded her first CD.
Felicity Turner took just five hours to lay down the six tracks on ‘From the Heart’ which is being sold in memory of her late grandparents.
“My grandma lost the fight from cancer in 2012, so half the money will be going to Cancer Research,” said 13-year-old Felicity, a student at Market Rasen’s De Aston School..
“The tracks have been inspired by both my grandma and grandad - songs they like - as well as my parents.
“I am really pleased with how the CD turned out and I hope people enjoy it.”
This was Felicity’s first time in a recording studio and was something she really enjoyed.
“It was really good in the studio - a great experience,” she said.
Felicity is well known for her singing talent and has performed at many local events.
She has also sung at a number of the market events in Market Rasen, where shoppers were left spell-bound by her mature singing voice.
“It was at the last market people were coming up and asking if I had a CD, so that got us thinking,” said Felicity.
“I want to thank my parents for giving me the opportunity to do the CD and for all the support they have given me.
“They are the best I could have and do an awful lot for me.”
Parents Sandra and Graham Turner, who run John Turner Photography in Market Rasen, are justly proud of their young singing star.
“Felicity has worked very hard to achieve what she wants,” said Sandra.
“We are very proud of the way she perseveres and the way she works to get the music to sound the way she wants it to.”
But Felicity’s achievements are all the more remarkable as she only has partial hearing, being deaf in one ear.
“When I was very young, I didn’t have a lot of confidence and felt isolated because of my hearing,” said Felicity.
“I learnt to sing at primary school and singing has helped me a lot.”
It was her piano teacher Sue Heron who discovered Felicity’s talent for singing and encouraged her to join the Market Rasen Junior Singers.
Felicity now has singing lessons with Gaynor Rodway, and has recently undertaken her first paid gig at a wedding.
“It would be cool to be known for my singing, but really I would like to help others and work in music therapy,” added Felicity
‘From the Heart’ is available to buy at £6.50 at John Turner Photography in Oxford Street and Rasen Hub in Union Street, with half the sale price going to Cancer Research UK..
