Ringers at Lincoln

Members of The Wragby Handbell Ringers were invited to ring at The Chapter House in Lincoln Cathedral - a very special occasion for the group, which gave them a chance to show their beautiful music stand banners, along with the navy scarves - decorated with silver music notes for the women and ties in a similar design for the men.

And the ringers are being kept busy - with eight bookings to the end of the year and three already for 2015.

Uniformed AGM - The AGM for the Scout & Guide Headquarters will be held next Monday, November 10, starting at 7pm.

The committee hope parents and anyone interested in supporting the children will go along and show their support.

Whist - Drives continue in the town hall and recent winners have included: Ladies - Mrs M Smith, Mr R Lenton, Mrs M Needham, Mrs E Stubbs, Mrs S Collins, Mrs Y Watson, Mrs R Hilton and Mrs E Cockrell; Gents - Mr M Swift, Mrs P Beaton, Mr B Pixsley, Mrs A Hodgson, Mrs L Swift and Mr J Lloyd.

Jumble - Dove Park Bowls Club held their very successful autumn jumble sale in the town hall recently and all were delighted to see the crowds flock in to help them raise £453.70.

Nostalgic nosh - Jacket potatoes are on the menu at the next meeting of the WI in the Town Hall on Monday, November 10, when John Hall is the speaker - ‘Christmas, Now and Then’.

Starting at 7.30pm, a cosy winter evening is envisaged as members are reminded Christmas is getting ever nearer and they hear of how it used to be compared with the season now.

There is a competition for a home made Christmas bauble, together with the best flower of the month.

Visitors are always welcome to join them too and the charge of £3 includes the supper.

Instead of the usual contribution for the buffet supper, members are asked to take along a jacket potato ready to go in the oven when they arrive at the meeting and all will be ready for serving with a choice of fillings after the business and talk is ended.

New members will receive a very warm welcome too; more details from Margaret Kane on 01673 858067.

Gardeners - Janette Merrilion will address the next meeting of the Wragby Community Gardening Club in the town hall on Tuesday, November 11 at 7.30pm.

Her topic will be Birds, Bees and Butterflies.

Visitors are always welcome; contact secretary Pat Hickey on 01673 857313 for more details.

Parish Supper - The Annual Parish Supper was held in the Town Hall, where the Rev Mark Holden welcomed everyone and invited them to enjoy the bring and share supper, before partaking in the fun ceilidh.
