Films, music and jumble

Film society - The programme for the 2015/16 season for Wragby Film Society has now been published.

Annual subscriptions are due at £5, which can be paid at the library at Millbrook Business Park, using an envelope addressed to the secretary Barbara Bartlett. Alternatively, it can be paid on film nights.

The season launches in the town hall on Wednesday, September 23, with The Theory of Everything, which looks at the relationship between the famous physicist Stephen Hawking and his wife.

It starts at 7pm and admission is £3 for members, £5 for non-members and £2 for children.

The society also arranges read to reel meetings at the library on Monday afternoons and evenings, with the films shown on the second Wednesday of each month.

You do not have to be a member of the reading group to attend the films, the first of which is today.

Sean Connery stars as James Bond in the 1963 film From Russia with Love.

As the society is not able to charge for admission to these films, the coffee and biscuits served during the interval cost £3.

WI - The centenary of the WI will be celebrated at the next meeting, in the town Hall on Monday, September 14, at 7.30pm, when there is a change to the programme too, with musical entertainment to be provided by Harmony.

September is also the month for the mini produce show and members are invited to exhibit three pieces of flapjack, a jar of strawberry jam, a child’s knitted hat and a flower arrangement in an egg cup.

A trophy will be awarded to the winner of each class and small prizes for those placed first, second and third.
