Plant minders, coffee and council

Wragby will soon be in full bloom, in the central area in particular, as the planted tubs, being prepared by the Wragby Plant Minders, are almost ready to be fixed to the railings surrounding the Market Place.

Using a grant of £280 received from the parish council, Carole Watts and Eileen Barry have filled and planted them ready for display and, with the addition of all the tubs and baskets decorating The Ivy opposite, Wragby will have a very attractive and colourful town centre.

But the work of the Wragby plant carers is not finished with the preparation and display of the tubs.

To ensure the flowers keep flourishing throughout the summer months, they need regular and constant care, a huge commitment for two people, and Carole and Eileen are appealing for help with the daily watering to enable them to have a break occasionally.

To offer some support, call Carole on 01673 858165.

COFFEE MORNING: A Danish coffee morning will be held at The Spinney in Cemetery Road on Saturday, June 20, from 10am to midday.

Admission is £1, which includes coffee and a Danish pastry.

There will also be a raffle and cake stall, with proceeds from the event going to All Saints’ Church.

PARISH COUNCIL: There are five vacancies on Wragby Parish Council which will be filled by co-option.

Anyone interested in serving as a councillor can apply to the clerk, Steve Wallace, at Forman’s Cottage, Sotby LN8 5LP; applications to be received by 5pm on July 3, and will be considered at the July 6 meeting.
