Will Selby is happy to drone on about his new business.

The 22-year-old last month begun offering aerial photography, with clients including marketing and estate agency businesses.

The film and television production graduate has a small remote-controlled Quadcopter equipped with a small but powerful camera capable of capturing 12MP still images in HD and 4K video. Attachments stabilise the camera to create smooth and fluid motion to give a professional looking product.

“There’s a gap in the market. It’s an up and coming technology. There’s going to be an explosion of demand in the next few years. I’m going to jump on the bandwagon,” Will told the Rasen Mail.

“I was a student at the University of Cumbria. I liked the idea of working for myself. If you are going to try something, you may as well try it when you are young,” he continued.

Will, from Kirton-in-Lindsey, said his drone can take pictures for civil engineers working on wind turbines, it can undertake high building or other inspections instead of putting workmen in danger.

As well as aerial photography, Will can also undertake cinematography work on a freelance basis.

However, in addition to his film and television qualifications, Will also had to gain remote pilot qualifications. He is certified by the Civil Aviation Authority to operate a remotely piloted aircraft system. He also has £5 million of public liability insurance, in case anything goes wrong.

“From my research this technology is taking off and allowing limitless possibilities in a variety of areas,” he added,

Will has launched a ‘Will Selby Project’ website highlighting his 2014 portfolio. He also has a similar You Tube video showing his capabilities.
