Some 75 West Lindsey police officers have been trained to become Dementia Friends.
This follows a talk at Market Rasen Police Station by Gill Collins, Dementia Action Alliance co-ordinator for the East Midlands. The session was given as part of Lincolnshire Police’s involvement with the West Lindsey Dementia Action Alliance, which also includes Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, the District Council, the Alzheimer’s Society, Voluntary Sector Services, the Carers Partnership, plus local residents with experience of living with people who have dementia.
West Lindsey Community Policing Inspector Simon Outen said: “The input has encouraged our staff to think about the condition and some of the effects that it may have on how we deal with incidents. Our staff are determined to give the highest level of service.”
