Volunteers needed for new family roles

A NEW family befriending project is looking for volunteers.

Run by Barnardos, Think Family works with families in need of some extra support.

This could be befriending a parent, spending one to one time with a child or working within the family home to offer parenting advice and support.

“This is a new project and the opportunities for a volunteer will be varied, rewarding and interesting,” said Carrie Flint, volunteer co-ordinator.

“There is no age limit - just a desire to help people, families and children that are in need of some extra support.

“A couple of hours a week commitment is all we ask.”

The project also works within West Lindsey Children Centres - either working with a family referred through this or by helping out at the groups within the centres.

Volunteers are offered training and continued support/supervision to help them get the best out of their role.

Courses are being held this month at three venues.

Evening training begins on August 14 and runs for four Tuesdays - ending on
September 4.

There is also a two-day training event in Lincoln - on August 16 and 23 - and at Boston - on August 30 and 31.

Assistance with transport may be possible.
