A HOLE in one seemed a fitting way to celebrate Market Rasen and District Golf Club’s centenary.
And that is just what Ray Pearson did on the 14th hole of his round at the Centenary Hickory Am/Am, played 100 years to the day - March 12 - of the club’s formation.
Ray was also part of the winning team, alongside M P Tompkins, V Sullivan and R Lambert with a score of 82.
Along with members of the British Golf Collectors Society, who played with vintage clubs, members of the town club dressed in a touch of Edwardian-style glamour to take part in the competition.
“There has been a great turnout and the majority of people have turned up in costumes of the period,” said club captain Dick Holmes.
“We have one of the best courses in the county and pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming club.
“It is a great honour to be club captain in this centenary year, which has been made even more special as the lady captain is Bridget, my lovely wife.”
The pair will lead the club through its special year, alongside club president Dennis Hall.
