Carpets of crocuses are set to light up the verges ‘Where Five Roads Meet’ on the approaches to the village in a new scheme initiated by Wragby Community Gardening Club.
The first phase was launched when a team of six met at the roundabout on the Horncastle and Louth Road junction to plant the first thousand bulbs - in just 45 minutes - outside the Almshouses and towards the Parish Church.
The plan is to plant 1,000 each year until each approach road has been planted.
The five club members involved were Carole Watts, Pat Hickey, Eileen Barry, Mike Harman and Rita Dixon, with the valued support of willing volunteer John Boothby, who just happened to be one of the first very entertaining speakers when the club was in its infancy.
And since then it has grown and prospered and now has almost 60 members, who meet monthly in the town hall during the winter months and go out on visits during the summer.
