Railway future set for discussion

Councillors will discuss the future of the railway line through Brigg and possible future expansion with the Area Station Manager for Network Rail when he visits Brigg next Tuesday, March 17, together with Northern Rail MD Alex Hynes.

For more than 20 years Brigg has had a ‘parliamentary service’ – where passenger trains only run on Saturdays.

The line though is now a busy freight route throughout the rest of the week.

Brigg Town Council is to send a delegation and issues to be raised are the provision of an increased service, improvements to the general appearance of the station, improved access across Station Yard and refurbishment of the bridge to include wheelchair and pram access via a ramp.
