Market Rasen Post Office has closed its doors while it undergoes a major refurbishment
The town centre branch closed on January 9 and will not reopen until Thursday, January 21.
The Post Office is not providing a temporary service in the town - instead it is directing people to its village branch in Middle Rasen.
The refurbishment will include two new style open-plan counters and a secure fortress position. And opening times will increase by an extra four-and-a-half hours on Saturday afternoons.
Post Office area manager Anne Clark said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
But the temporary closure has sparked anger among some residents who rely heavily on the service.
MP Sir Edward Leigh said: “It’s a real shame this refurbishment is taking place at a time when the town’s NatWest and HSBC banks have closed their doors, having to direct their customers to the post office. It is good that the Post Office is investing in the facilities of our community. I hope people will not be significantly affected by this temporary closure.”
