TOWN councillor Rob Waltham is Brigg’s new snow warden.

North Lincolnshire Council carried out a winter service review following last year’s handling of the snow emergency at the end of 2010 and the idea of appointing snow wardens was one of the recommendations.

Coun Waltham volunteered to take on the role at a Brigg Town Council meeting. He will be a direct link to the control room in Scunthorpe for providing updates on the ground.

There will also be more salt bins and the organisation of the spreading of salt will be at the town council’s discretion.

Town and parishes are to be supplied with a stock of rock salt through the winter but they are to determine a location for storing.
