Taking to the streets for charity

A MARKET Rasen man is getting ready to pound the streets of Lincoln to say thank you for his daughter’s life-changing treatment.

Carl Martin of Gordon Field is running the Lincoln 10k on Sunday, April 3, in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where his daughter is receiving ground-breaking treatment.

This is the first time Carl has taken part in such an event and admits it will be something of a challenge.

“I am not a regular runner, but I think I will be okay,” he said. “I’ve jogged the distance around Middle Rasen and it wasn’t too hard.”

Carl and Helen Martin’s daughter Summer was born with a light pink mark covering her left eyelid and forehead above.

When Summer was about ten weeks old, she was referred to Lincoln county Hospital to see an eye specialist.

“He took one look at her and told us this couldn’t be treated in Lincolnshire and we would have to travel down to Great Ormond Street in London,” said Helen.

To sponsor Carl call him at E-QUIP on 01673 844814.
