A HUSBAND accidentally killed his wife driving into a bay at a supermarket car park, an inquest has heard.

Retired teacher Brenda Hippsley, from Searby, died when husband William attempted to manoeuvre into a parking bay at Brigg Tesco in September 2008.

The inquest heard how the 69-year-old got out of their Toyota car to help guide her husband into the parking space.

Mr Hippsley then drove into another parked car before accelerating forwards and hitting his wife, dragging her underneath the car. Paramedics attended but Mrs Hippsley died at the scene.

Mrs Hippsley had worked as an art teacher in various secondary schools in the Sheffield and Doncaster area before coming to North Lincolnshire to retire.

A North Lincolnshire coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
